Three open-air Learning Hubs launching across West Harlem
This week Street Lab launches three new Learning Hubs in partnership with HYPOTHEkids to host outdoor afterschool and offer other learning experiences in parks and plazas across West Harlem. Each location will feature Street Lab’s SOLVE puzzle station, homework help and other support provided by local college students in partnership with Barnard College, and different hands-on activities ideal for students in grades K-5 each week as part of the HYPOTHEkids Science Club program. Learning Hubs locations are:
- Johnny Hartman Plaza at W143rd and Amsterdam Ave on Tuesdays
- Morningside Park just south of the 123rd St playground near the bbq area on Wednesdays
- Sheltering Arms Playground between W126th and W129th St on Thursdays
All activities happen from 2-5pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for fifteen weeks in the open air, with staff to engage kids and ensure social distancing. The program is drop-in and free for all ages, but families interested in returning multiple weeks are encouraged to register here. Generous funding for this partnership in provided by a grant to HYPOTHEkids from Verizon.
